MACGREGOR’S  BARN   - A  STEP INTO THE PAST…

The Setting  - A Highland Hill  Sheep Farm – also the home of The Scottish Sheepdog School -  deep in the heart  of the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.

The  Outlook – Facing onto the towering majesty of Ben Lomond , the tranquil waters of Loch Ard ,  and the Queen Elizabeth Forest.

The Place  -MacGregor’s Barn, built in  1620, its white stone walls hung  with the weapons  and the banners of highland warriors from the days of the Jacobite  Wars.

In this very place, the young Rob Roy MacGregor, just turned 18, addressed his fellow clansmen at the Feast of the Hairst Kirn in October 1689, when he described his experiences at the Battle of Killiecrankie the previous August. Author Sir Walter Scott was a regular visitor to the farm at which he wrote his novel, “Rob Roy”

The barn, which is self-contained with its own toilets, kitchen, and adjoining Stables Bar, will accommodate 54 wedding guests at long, traditional, baronial-style tables lit by candlelight.  There is a  minstrel’s gallery where the Kinlochard Ceilidh Band –all local musicians- and pipers will entertain in traditional celtic style and lead the dancing.

An exciting range of  menus is available for the wedding banquet,  local produce, including  the farm’s own lamb, is recommended.   The wedding ceremony can be held “al fresco” at the adjacent Helen’s  Pool and Waterfall –named after Rob Roy’s wife, Helen Mary MacGregor- in the barn or at one of the picturesque local churches.

The farm also offers guests a whole range of outdoor pursuits, including clay pigeon shooting, fishing, canoeing, quad biking,  mountain biking, and guided hill walks –so there is no need to rush off after the wedding!  Local accommodation includes a four-star hotel with leisure centre and pool immediately adjacent to the farm.

We have our very own traditional Ceilidh band that have a repertoire covering; Scottish, Irish, Latin, Salsa and many other kinds of music. Please see The Kinlochard Ceilidh Band - www.ceilidh-band.demon.co.uk (Go into recordings, mouse onto CD album cover and select from tracks).

Please note that we also have a fleet of luxury vehicles from Mercedes V class Ambiente’s and Chrysler Grand Voyagers to luxury coaches, available at any time for the bridal party and guests, giving you complete “peace of mind” for your transport solutions.

Kinlochard is 50 minutes from Glasgow Airport and one hour from Edinburgh Airport.  The farm has its own luxury transport for the bridal party.

Fergus, Gregor and the Clan at Ledard Farm look forward to affording you traditional highland hospitality!.   Ceud Mile Failte –a hundred thousand welcomes!
